Together
as one, we always aim to encourage, guide and support your
whole-language learning experience. We provide you with platforms of
language-learning opportunities, inviting exploration into language, culture and discovery – the Kurus English way.
Certainly, we have the experience, the wisdom, the dynamics and the
passion to guide you along this learning journey of exploration and discovery – indeed, to show you our way!
Gavin Cuttler (Director of Studies):
Gavin has followed an extensive career in the field of education. He is
a deeply committed and professional educator whose true passion lies in
hands-on teaching. He contributes to Kurus English
many years of experience in second and foreign language learning,
teaching and examination preparation. Significantly, he worked for many
years as an educational publisher of English language courses for the
southern African region. He has contributed invaluable knowledge gained
from working with teachers and learners ranging from remote rural to
sophisticated urban schools and educational institutions.
Diana Horvat (Operations Manager):
Diana is young, dynamic and motivated and she brings with her an
exciting range of experience from the gastronomic, event management,
accounting and operations sectors. Most recently, she worked as a One
Touch Service Operator for an exclusive four star plus business hotel
in Frankfurt, Germany. She has valuable experience of Cape Town, its
people and the English language school sector, gained during an
extended stay in 2006, while studying at just such an institution. Her
empathy with and understanding of the specific and varied needs of
learners coming from all corners of the world provides them with a
secure, social base to achieve maximum benefit from the opportunities
offered at Kurus English.
Johannes Kraus (Director):
Johannes is a young and passionate entrepreneur, who recently completed
his Socio Economic Studies with a BA in Labour and Economic Law in
Hamburg, Germany. Interestingly, he gained work experience as an
electrician in the paper industry and in undertaking projects and
seminars for the German Trade Unions. He draws his interest and
knowledge about South Africa and Cape Town from an English language
course in 2004, his political and legal studies at the University of
Cape Town (UCT) in 2006 and an internship for Coffee Beans Routes.
Coffeebeans Routes (Language Excursions): Coffeebeans Routes will deliver the Language Excursions exclusively for Kurus English students. Iain Harris
(Owner/Director) offers his finely relevant network of Cape Town and
its people, along with the necessary know-how of providing cultural and
musical experiences. Coffeebeans Routes are cultural and musical discovery
tours of Cape Town. Essentially, they are tours about people and
people’s stories; platforms for people to come together and share life
experiences and cross social divides. They are about discovering
opportunities to encounter different ways of life and thinking and also
the differing experiences of the widely diverse people of Cape Town.
Participants will enjoy an intimate time of language, culture and sharing; and of food, ideas, music and stories - in short, discovery.
